St.Bavo's Grote Kerk in Haarlem is one of the great cathedral/churches in the Netherlands. Steeped in history, it houses one of the most famous organs in the world. This instrument, a veritable masterpiece, is an authentic example of the historical art of organ building. Colorful, sculptural, it, like the monumental architecture which contains it, is now carefully maintained by the state; the state also maintains the centuries-long tradition of providing a venue for visiting international organists like, for example, Thomas Trotter, Ben van Oosten and Stephen Tharp...

It was at St. Bavo that, on July 26, Konstantin Volostnov played the final (summer) concert of his 2010-2011 season. His program brought to the audience, not only Russian music i.e. works by Tanejev and Goedicke, but also some Bach, and to celebrate Ritter's 200th anniversary, that composer's Third Sonata. (The reaction from the audience was a standing ovation!!)

Events for the coming 2011-2012 concert season.
For Oct 1 and 2 Konstantin Volostnov has planned an evening program, specifically to celebrate those musical "heroes" whose anniversaries will take place during the season. He will be playing: - two sonatas by RITTER; LISZT’s famous Variations on a Theme from Bach's Twelfth Cantata...and ...Prelude and Fugue on Bach; BACH will also be represented by his rarely played Partita in G minor. The two performances will take place at the Kirov Organ Hall (Alexander Church) and a thid one at the Small Hall of the Moscow Conservatory (Oct 7).

On Oct.29, (19.00 Moscow) the Organ Hall of Glinka Museum will be the venue for the first concert of Konstantin Volostnov's new series: "The Great Organ Traditions". Each of four concerts will concentrate on one or more of the various national organ schools (like German, French, English etc.). An earlier opportunity to hear the first concert will occur at Nizhny Novgorod on Oct.21 and Krasnodar on Oct.23.

In mid-November, The Palace of Yauza will welcome yet another organ concert initiative. Under Konstantin Volostnov's artistic supervision the Palace, with its splendid, well-preserved 1947 interior and very good acoustics, will, for the first time, resound with the music of an organ solo recital and an ensemble of leading Moscow musicians.

In the New Year, (Jan. 14 to be exact) the Grain House of the State Museum-Reserve Tsaritsyno will see the start of the festival entitled "Organ Plus in Tsarytsyno". To take part in each of the four planned concerts, Konstantin Volostnov has invited his friends - some of the best Russian ensembles and soloists. They include: - an ensemble of the Moscow Philharmonic Society - the Academy of Ancient Music, directed by Tatiana Grindenko; the Moscow Pedagogical State University Concert Choir (conducted by Alexander Solovyov); the Ensemble of Soloists "Orfarion" (artistic director Oleg Khudyakov ); and accordionist Maria Vlasova; clarinettist Eugene Varavko; etc...

Also in the coming season, Konstantin Volostnov will undertake a considerable number of concert tours throughout Russia. And there will be further special projects.... SO ... keep tuned to this website!

The 2010-2011 season has now come to an end: - from September to May, Konstantin Volostnov gave some 37 concerts throughout Russia, U.K., Spain, France, Germany, U.S.A and Canada.

Pride of place was given to Russian composers, but Schumann, whose 200th anniverary was celebrated in 2010, featured strongly. There were also two Major Projects: At the Glinka Museum of Musical Culture a six-concert-cycle entitled «Around Bach» has already been successfully completed, whereas, at the Grain House of the State Museum Reserve Tsantsyno, Konstantin Volostnov will conclude the six-part series called «The World of Organ Music», by playing the (penultimate) recital «Virtuoso Organ Music» on June 18th and on July 23rd, the final concert: «Bach and the Russian Organ Music» at which Nadezhda Korshakova, the virtuoso violinist from Switzerland will be the guest of honour.

It is worth noting that during this concert season of 37 performances, Konstantin Volostnov's repetoire has provided for 12 completely different solo programs (some 20 hours of music!) as well as a considerable number of ensemble events. His coming summer travels will include recitals at the renowned «world organ centres» of Hamilton (Canada) and St Bavo, Haarlem (Holland).
